On behalf of Newborn Special Care Associates and TODAY is a Good Day, we are thrilled to invite you to the 2nd Annual Ralph Schrager, MD Memorial Fund Golf Outing benefitting the Neonatal Intensive care unit at Abington Hospital.
Please allow this letter to serve as a formal invitation to celebrate the life and memory of Ralph Schrager, MD. Dr. Schrager was a well-respected neonatologist who saved thousands of frail babies’ lives in our community for over 30 years. Organized by his family after his untimely death in May 2016 at the young age of 58, the Ralph Schrager Memorial Fund continues his legacy and passion for the well-being of premature babies and their families.
Dr. Schrager’s fund supports the Abington Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in numerous capacities. These include defraying the ongoing costs of the NICView camera system, which allows families to view their infants remotely, to assisting families with everyday struggles by paying bills, rents and mortgages during their NICU stay. In addition, two college scholarships will be awarded to former premature babies who beat the odds early in life. This presentation will be made at the reception following the outing.
This year, the golf outing will be hosted in partnership with TODAY is a Good Day, a Philadelphia non-profit providing personal and financial support for families with premature babies during their time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Martha and Paul Sharkey founded TODAY is a Good Day following the birth of their identical twin daughters, Claire and Mary, at just 23 weeks 5 days. Dr. Schrager played an incredibly special role in the Sharkey Family's journey. TODAY is a Good Day and the Ralph Schrager Memorial Fund will be partnering to support families at Abington Hospital.
